- This plant is classified as a "Grass".
- There are softwoods and hardwood varieties.
- The tallest varieties can grow 80-100 feet tall.
- They are an easy-to-grow plant, indoors or out.
- They are invasive, fast-growing plants.
- It is drought-resistant and need little or no
fertilizer.
- Depending upon variety, it flowers every 3 to
150 years.
- Other than phytoplankton, it releases more
oxygen than any other plant. It is also efficient in absorbing carbon
dioxide.
- The stems are hollow.
- Bamboo is the favorite food of giant panda bears.
- Red pandas eat it, too.
- Only the young bamboo shoots are edible for humans. And importantly,
only from certain varieties of this plant. If you don't know which ones
